DON'T PISS DOWN MY LEG AND TELL ME ITS RAINING Corey Presha
Corey Presha’s paintings are tied to and derived from history. His recent body of work in particular responds to the 2016 election and the prevailing sociocultural climate in America. By sourcing his imagery from a variety of historical artifacts—postcards, found materials, and samples of early twentieth-century Black Americana procured from eBay—Presha explores the legacy of outward and internalized racism in the history of American life, as well as the endurance and pervasiveness of this racism—spread through culture and media—in present-day society.
